Question 6

What is the difference between an electronic air cleaner and an electrostatic air filter?

  1.    Nothing, the names are used interchangeably.
  2.    The electrostatic is the “old type” without any electronic controls. The electronic ones are the “new type.”
  3.    Electronic air cleaners work inside your ductwork and are constantly powered to have an electric charge that acts as a dust magnet. Electrostatic filters are replaceable filters, which had an electric charge applied to them at the factory, are not powered, and degrade over time.
