Honeywell offers the touch screen WiFi Smart Thermostat. There are apps that permit control of your home comfort from any place with Internet access or in your room on the couch using a computer, tablet, or smartphone. You can also control your system with its touch screen on the wall. The Honywell unit allows you to match your décor with different colored screens. The popular Nest Learning Thermostat is now in its 2nd Generation. Its 20% thinner, can save you even more energy and works with 95% of low voltage systems. It takes about a week for the thermostat to learn your routines. Nest also uses WiFi to provide for remote control by computer, tablet or smartphone. If you are away it turns the Nest down when you're not home while Auto-Schedule learns what temperatures you like and programs itself; you can also adjust Nest's schedule at any time .It displays your energy history which shows you how much energy you've used and what affects your energy use most. How do you choose which one is best for you? Its whether you prefer a rectangular unit or a round unit. That's the main obvious difference between the two.
